Main → History 1971-1980

A new range of machines appeared in the 1970s, intended mainly for construction work and peat production.

ТЭ-3М Multipurpose peat excavator

The ТЭ-3М excavator was intended for digging field drains, secondary drains and water conveyance ditches, main drains, pits and other work on undrained and bog peat fields, marshy and other soft soils.

The excavator was a self-propelled full swing machine on an extra wide and extra long undercarriage, and comprised a crawler, swing upperstructure with transmission units and removable attachments.

The removable attachments comprised backhoes, face shovels and draglines.

  • Engine power: 45.5 kW
  • Bucket capacity: 0.5 – 0.65 m3

Changing over to hydraulics

The main achievement of those years was the changeover to making equipment with hydraulic drive.

МТП-71 excavators appeared.

МТП-71 hydraulic peat excavator

The МТП-71 multipurpose single bucket peat excavator with hydraulic drive on an extra-wide and extra-long undercarriage was intended for digging operations in soft soils.

In functioning peat fields and peat fields in the process of development, the machine could be used for digging and repairing secondary, field and main drains, in digging pits and trenches, in loading and unloading operations, and also similar work related to land improvement and agriculture.

Bucket capacity was 1 m³

In addition, ditching machines (КПО and МТП-36), a multi-bucket peat excavator (ТЭМП-2М), peat suction tube crane, ditch transfer loader (ПМТ-1) and other machines were launched into production.

КПО ditcher

This machine was intended for digging preliminary drainage networks in soft peat fields.

  • The machine possessed flotation ability.
  • Engine power: 125 kW
  • Output: up to 270 m3/hour

МТП-36 ditcher

Developed using the МТП-71 excavator as a basic machine, intended for digging and cleaning field drains.
