Modifications were made to the ТЭ-2М excavator, reducing its weight by seven tons. The УПФ-2 machine also became two tons lighter, and was later replaced by a more modern machine, the ФПУ-1.

A new transfer harvester was designed for harvesting peat from ridges.

Following changes in peat production techniques, our plant made 150 БПФ-2 machines during the first year of the new seven year plan.
